Tindalls Bay Whangaparaoa

Tindalls Bay is one of the lesser known beaches on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and tucked away of the main road.

A beautiful sandy beach with very sheltered calm waters in most conditions this is another family favourite for locals and people in the know.

The Bay has a very gradual drop off making it a really safe swimming and paddle area for young children and the water can be a couple of degrees warmer at times..

Why Choose Tindalls Bay?

Tindalls Bay is ideal for families with young children due to its safe swimming enviroment and low volume of rocks and other obstacles in the water.

The Bay is very sheltered from all winds except strong north westerly's resulting in very calm waters the majority of the time.

There are several yacht moorings just off the beach making for a great backdrop and giving you that I'm on holiday feeling.

Tindalls Bay Facilities

The facilities at Tindalls Bay include the following:

Changing Rooms & Toilets: The changing rooms and toilet area is very basic with limited capacity because the beach is usually very quiet.

There is also an outdoor cold shower for washing of the salt water and sand. The area is usually well maintained and clean.

Shops: The nearest shops are located at the Manly Village which is a short 5-10 minutes casual walk.

The Village offers several shops, cafe, restaurants and bottle shop (off license).

Boat Ramp: There is a boat ramp available at Tindalls bay that makes launching any vessel 6 meter or less fairly easy. Be aware that at low tide the bay is very shallow and you have to go a fair distance in to the water to get buoyancy.

How to get here?

Tindalls Bay is located at the midway point of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula on the northern side.

Once on the Whangaparaoa Road follow the road for approximately 10 kilometres until you come to the mini roundabout at Manly Village. Take the third exit right at the roundabout, after a couple of hundred meters you will pass the local fire station on your left, take your next left turn after the station on to Tindalls Bay Road. Now follow this road for approximately one kilometre until you reach Hardley Avenue, turn left and you're at the beach.
